HOW TO CREATE AN EARLY MORNING ROUTINE | Before the kiddos wake up

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

Are you looking for a way to be more productive with your day or just get some routine to your morning? In this post I walk you through my productive morning routine before my daughter wakes up.

WAKE UP EARLY!

In order for me to have a productive morning I need to get up before my daughter does. On a typical day I try to get up around 5:30 a.m., that gives me about 2 hours before my daughter wakes up to get things done and have some quiet time before the busy day begins.

I am not naturally one who is easy to wake, it is not unlike me to want to snooze the alarm! One thing that I have implimented lately is Mel Robbins 5-Second Rule, it is essentially counting down from 5 and then when you hit 1 you take action!! So if there is something you don't want to do...do it anyway!!

MAKE YOUR BED

Now I know that your momma probably told you to make your bed when you were growing up. Honesly it is a super simple thing that you can do in order to mark something off your checklist!!

Pro Tip:

Set out your workout clothes the night before.

WORKOUT

One thing that I'm really trying to do this year is to increase my workout to 3 times a week. With the season of life I'm in right now I don't have time to get to the gym so something I have been using the last few months is the Tone It Up App. It is a great way to fit in a workout before my daughter gets up! The workouts are quick around 15-30 minutes which make it super easy to fit into my morning routine.

HOUSEWORK

On the mornings where I am not working out I utilize the time to get some things done around my house. Starting a load of laundry or the dishes is a great way to get something checked off your list!

SHOWER

After my workout I start to get ready by taking a shower. If it is a morning where I did not workout I take my shower after I make my bed before I do anything else!

COFFEE TIME!

I am a coffee attic, and the early mornings are my prime time to enjoy a hot cup of coffee without having to warm it up in the microwave! I use my milk frother to make it extra special!

GET MOTIVATED

As I am getting ready in the morning I love to listed to podcasts or watch motivating videos that will get my day set in the right direction. One of my favorites is Rachel Hollis' Rise Podcast. She will get you motivated to take on the world and has so many amazing guests on her podcast.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

I am not one who washes their hair everyday, dry shampoo is my best friend when it comes to getting ready. As a busy momma I don't have the time to dry and style it every day so utilizing dry shampoo is a huge time saver! I listed some of my favorite affordable beauty products below.

Normally I have a fairly straight forward makeup routine that doesn't take me much time to complete. Once I have my makeup done I brush my teeth.

DEVOTIONS/QUIET TIME

This is by far my favorite part of my morning routine. I love being able to sip on my coffee as I dive into my daily devotional Pressing Pause. The devotional is perfect for busy moms who want to dive into the word. To track my devotions I use a Recollections mini faith notebook. I love all of the sections that it has in it and it fits perfectly into how I do my quite time. In the notebook one of my favorite sections is the daily gratitude section. I have really gotten into the concept of practicing daily gratitude. Each morning I write down 5 things that I am grateful for that day, these can be small things like your cup of hot coffee or they could be large answered prayers.

If you spend your day looking for things to be grateful for you will live a more appreciative life full of positivity. I highly encourage you to try this practice. What are your 5 things?

I hope you enjoyed taking a look into my morning routine and picked up a few things that you can incorporate in order to have a productive morning before the kiddos wake up.
